Nine days on Royal Enfields over Khardung La, with a backup van, a mechanic and a road captain.

Ride the highest roads in India with a small group and a crew that has done this route more than forty times. We acclimatise properly in Leh before the first pass, so the riding days are the ones you remember.

Every night is in a hotel or a fixed camp with hot water. The backup van carries your luggage, spare parts and oxygen, so you only carry what you need for the day.

Rest is the plan today. A short walk to Shanti Stupa at sunset if you feel up to it.
Bike handover and a test ride around Leh. Visit Thiksey monastery.
The big one. Over the pass and down into the valley, with tea at the top.
Along the Shyok river to the lake. Camp by the water.
Sunrise at the lake, then the second high pass back to Leh.
An easier day: Magnetic Hill, the confluence and Likir monastery.
Remote and quiet. The road thins out and so do the people.
Ride back and hand over the bikes. Farewell dinner.
Morning transfer to the airport.
Yes. A pillion seat costs less and shares a bike with a rider in the group.
The backup van carries oxygen and the road captain is trained in altitude sickness. We plan two rest days in Leh for this reason.
You should be comfortable riding 120 to 180 km a day on mountain roads.
Days are warm and nights near freezing at Pangong. Pack layers.
