Use the rate on your vendor's bill. Cab and coach hire is charged at 5% (no input credit) or 18% (with input credit).

Your cost

On the 5% package rate, the GST you pay suppliers is part of your cost. On 18%, your cost is the bill before GST if you can claim the credit.

Enter the days, km and your vendor's rates to see the bill, your cost and the share per traveller.

How it works

  1. Pick the vehicle, how many you need and the number of travellers.
  2. Enter the days, the km for each day or a daily average, and your vendor's minimum km.
  3. Add the per-km rate, driver allowance, night charges, tolls, parking, permits and the vendor's GST.
  4. Choose your package GST rate, then copy the breakdown, download the CSV or save a PDF.

How the bill is worked out

Each day is billed at the km driven or your vendor's minimum, whichever is more, and vendor GST is added on the hire (km, driver allowance and night charges) while tolls, parking and permits are added as billed.

To put the vehicle into a full package price, use the tour package costing calculator; to see how a bigger vehicle moves your break-even group size, try the break-even calculator. For more on per-km rates and bata, read costing a vehicle right, and for Ladakh, taxi union rates and permits.

Questions operators ask

How is outstation vehicle hire usually billed?

Billable kilometres times the per-km rate, plus a daily driver allowance, night charges, tolls, parking and state permits. Many vendors bill a minimum number of kilometres per day even if you drive less, so enter your vendor's minimum.

What is driver bata?

A daily allowance paid to the driver for food and stay on outstation trips. Enter the amount your vendor charges per day.

What GST does a cab or coach vendor charge?

Either 5% without input tax credit or 18% with input tax credit, depending on the option the vendor has chosen. Check the vendor's bill. A vendor without a GSTIN can't charge GST, so pick 0% for an unregistered vendor.

Should I include the vendor's GST in my package cost?

On the 5% package rate, yes, because you cannot claim it back. On the 18% rate, use the cost before GST if you can claim the credit. If you can't, the GST stays in your cost, so use the vendor bill total.

Does the calculator look up distances or tolls?

No, and it has no market rates either. Enter the km from your route plan and the charges from your vendor's quote. Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Tourify.
